Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi), representing Lagos West Senatorial District, governorship aspirant in Ogun State in the fast   approaching general election in 2019, has expressed his readiness to make peaceful co-existence among  all religions in the state, especially Islam and Christianity, when he becomes the governor of Ogun State.

He made this assertion, when he hosted all his coalition groups, religion clerics, indigenes of Yewa/Awori land and his supporters at end of the year party held at his residence in Ilaro, Ogun State on 2nd January, 2018.

Senator Adeola said that in order to give a signal that he’s going to ensure that Muslims and Christians  in the state unite, when he emerges as governor hence  the idea of bringing both Islamic clerics and pastors together to pray for him. He said there’s the need for peaceful coexistence among  the two religions, because we all serve one God. He explained that as a fact, he is for  both Islam and Christianity.

He therefore thanked the religious clerics for taking their time to come and pray for him, and promised not to disappoint them. He said he would treat both religions equally.

Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola Yayi revealed that the rifft between Governor Amosun of Ogun State and himself is just political, saying that nothing more to it. He said Amosun is bigger than him in all standards in age and position. So, he really deserves to be respected.

He said. “The rift between us is just political and nothing more to it. But it all started when Yewa/Awori people decided to choose me as the governorship aspirant coming 2019 election in Ogun State. And Governor Amosun in his response said I’m a foreigner, saying that I can’t come from Lagos and be a governor in Ogun State. It is obvious that it high time Yewa/Awori take  the mantle of leadership in the state.

Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola said “Let me take you back to  memory lane, on where past governors in Ogun State lived and worked before they became governors in the state. Our father, Olabisi Onabanjo, lived and worked in Lagos State before he became governor of Ogun State. The same thing applicable to Olusegun Osoba, Gbenga Daniel and even Governor Ibikunle Amosun lived and worked in Lagos State before he became governor. So what makes my own case different? We can all see that the his point is baseless. Even when Amosun wanted to contest back then, former president Olusegun Obasanjo did not support him, but Egbas and Ogun residents supported him.”

Part of the cogent points he harped on, is lack of harmony between people of Ogun State, which he believes would not help the state. He promised he would play mediatory role among past governors and stakeholders in the state, when he becomes  the governor in 2019. He said he’s very optimistic he will win the election, because with the help of Almighty God and support of people he will get there.

The coalition groups that  attended the event were, Yayi Caucus Coalition Group, Oramiyan Democrats,  Famous Group, Yayi Solidarity Group (YASOG), Yayi Visionary, Yayi Vanguard, Movement De Democrat, Yayi Ladies, Yayi Family Group, Yayi Formidables , Yayi Congress, Yayi Royal Ladies, Yayi Foundation, Dapada Group, Ohanaze Ndigbo among others.
