Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria (AAAN), has unveiled an advocacy campaign on Nigeria’s unity. Its desire is to support the government efforts at  achieving a unified Nigeria.

The President of the association, Mr. Kayode Oluwasona, disclosed this to newsmen in a press conference recently held in Lagos, saying that over the years, several initiatives like Good People, Great Nation and others have been put in place with emphasis on encouraging national unity.

He said that though, previous governments made  efforts on this, but this association has put together a unity campaign to further support  government’s efforts in achieving a unified nation.PP

“Our association is desired to see improved political tolerance, national reconciliation, unity and social cohesion in Nigeria. We are aware of the discord and suspicion along ethnic and religion lines. We believe a transformed political and economic system in Nigeria, requires full participation and commitment of citizens that put the principles of trust, relationship building, love for one another and unity, first above everything else. The Unity Campaign emphasizes on peaceful co-existence and unity among the citizens of Nigeria. ” He said.

The campaign ethos is also based on the rationale that national coexistence and development can only be achieved through unity.
This initiative equally reinforces and preaches a new philosophy in the hearts of Nigerians, that in spite of our differences, we are truly better together, and there is no limit to what we can achieve, when we lay aside our differences and reach out to one another.

“in order to achieve the primary objective of this campaign, the association has secured the support of the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria(APCON), our industry regulator, media organization, journalists and other relevant stakeholders.”
“in addition to the above, we intend to collaborate with all relevant sectoral groups to achieve success for the campaign. The campaign will be exposed on both offline and online media platforms.” He disclosed.

Some of the members of the association that were at the ceremony were the Vice President, Mr Ikechi Odigbo, Mr Steve Babaeko, Mr Kelechi Nwosu, Mr Onuora Molokwu among others.
